Writer, Photographer, Voiceover Artist
Jan Tormay is passionate about telling a story through photography and the written word. She also enjoys producing commercials for radio and television utilizing natural/character voices. In addition to voiceover acting, the Connecticut native performed Bobbie in Neil Simon’s play, Last of the Red Hot Lovers at the Milford Community Dinner Theatre.
Jan currently writes feature articles and periodically takes photographs for The Westerly Sun, Providence Media, and Ink Publications. Her latest photographs will be featured in the autumn issue of Seasons of the Shoreline Magazine. Jan has written stories for The Day’s Grace Magazine and Town & Country, as well as Norwich Magazine, The Bulletin, Patch.com, and Hartford News. Subjects vary from profiles, news and feature pieces to medical and business stories. For six years, she was a full-time writer, editor and photographer for LIFE Publications and Hartford Magazine. Jan also enjoys creating websites and promotional materials.
Additionally, she has worked in broadcasting. Beginning as a copywriter and often a top salesperson at WADS Radio, Jan and Dean Pepin soon became co-hosts on a morning talk show, Breakfast for Two. Later, she hosted Sound Off on the Sound on WFIF Radio, worked as a stringer/news anchor for WELI Radio, and was a traffic reporter for WPOP/WIOF Radio Stations.
